My Favourite photo with the iphone 2011

I sort of got lucky with this photo, clear blue sky, lots of contrast in colours and the magic of the Brickworks..

If you have not yet visited the Brickworks, try to go in 2012 it is an amazing place, especially if you take your bike and the wooded trails!

Take the trails by bike to Evergreen

Indpendent Bookstore hires bike delivery

Bike delivery for bookstores….

My favourite book summer 2011..CDN author TPL!

I love this idea!  While doing research on what people and businesses are moving by bike, I came across this bookstore in the US which I have been to several times while visiting Boston, MA in (harvard square) for the Fall rowing race Head of the Charles.  I did not realize that Harvard bookstore ship their local orders by metroped, a local bike – trike delivery company.  I love this idea…did I already mention this?

There seems to be more US companies offering delivery service by bike, although Canada is catching up!  I mean if they can deliver in Minneapolis in the winter for Peace Coffee I think it can be done in Toronto, well I know it can be done cause I do it except for snowstorm days!  I know just down the road in Hamilton there is a new delivery company THAAT and out west there is the Cowichan Recyclists and local Toronto companies like Forbes Wild Foods and Choco sol use a trailer for going to the Farmers Markets.  An emerging new/old way of moving our goods in a busy downtown environment, start of something big? I hope so…

Anyhow, what also was exciting when I emailed Harvard bookstore with some inquiries they immediately shot me back an email telling me about their relationship with metroped and saying their customers love having their books delivered by bike!

So maybe this could happen in Toronto?  what do you think?

I like their web page it is pretty interesting…also check out under shipping and they have their zero emissions option aka - bike delivery.

Safe Travels!

Featherstone 2 wheels green delivery since 2008…

We are celebrating 3 years of delivering goods for Toronto’s small business community this September!

So Thank you Toronto!

flowers for you…

Things we have delivered: Rain barrels, syrup, manequin, hot meals, lunches for over 100 kids, computer monitors, sofa chair, mushrooms, saskatoon berries, honey, walnuts, chestnuts, flowers, chocolate, seeds, soup, cattail hearts, wild leeks, and lots more stuff!

What I have learned is…this sort of service seems to be a good fit for local food distribution in downtown Toronto.  I suppose the reason food is being moved everyday is we need it to survive and there are lots of people in Toronto interested in healthy local food options.  Many of my customers cater to distrubuting healthy food, whether that is to day-cares, organizations, or restaurants.

My other customer that is emerging are the individual residents, those folks that may not live in Toronto and for example want a present delivered or someone who does not own a car and needs a heavy load of washing detergent. toilet paper, soil ect. delivered to their home.

I welcome all requests and do my best to accomodate your delivery!

It works best with a day’s notice or more if you know what you have planned.

I enjoy learning about all the fantastic small businesses and organizations in Toronto that are keen to try the bike delivery service.   Exciting times lie ahead with a sign (for the trailer) in the works and expanding my customer base.  Spread the word if you like the service or think it is a good idea.  One of my goals doing this is to give people an example and hopefully an idea that they too could use a bike to move things.

I can also take other things than food so don’t worry if you have another item that needs transport, as long as it fits on the trailer we can make it work!

Thanks and happy Fall riding!

If you Hate driving, I love cycling! –

If you hate driving in this city, I actually quite enjoy cycling around so it would be a great partnership!

Plus, I create no pollution, can carry quite a bit of stuff…and love my delivery service!

My rates are $2.00-$2.50/km and I can bring things back to you the next day or same day.

I have day time availability Monday to Friday, I also attend  Wychwood Farmer’s market on Saturday’s 8-1pm.  From the market I can do a home delivery of wildflowers from honey pie farms for a delivery fee of a loonie or toonie.  Also, if you have an extra heavy load like a bushel of potatoes, beets, peaches ect. I can take them home.

Wild Flowers Delivered for free! RAKDP (Random Act of Kindness Delivery Program)

Upcoming Random Act of Kindness Delivery Program...August 6th

I have been thinking about a way to spread the word of delivery by bike with a fun, positive twist that involves me being at a farmer’s market….So in collaberation with Cookie market manager of Wychwood, Honey Pie farms, and Christine Bruce – who gave the idea for the name- I would like to offer free or at least tip based (loonie or toonie) WILD FLOWER HOME DELIVERY program. The program is called RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS DELIVERY PROGRAM (by bike supercool)

I don’t know about you but I have never received flowers at home…but wouldn’t it be great to open the door to a wild flower gift from a friend delivered by BIKE!!??!! I will also have cute little note cards where you will be able to send a message..  All you need to do is purchase your $5.00 or $10.00 bouquet from Honey Pie, walk over 4 vendors to Featherstone 2 wheels green delivery where you can write a note at my booth and provide the delivery address and any other notes…easy peasy..

Sometimes it is invigorating to do something randomly nice and sponataneous like give a friend, relative or whoever a little bunch of goodness from Prince Edward County….how local is this, buy flowers from a farmer, send to a friend in Toronto, and send them by a small business bike delivery company!

There will also be a big free draw the first SATURDAY in October for anyone who did sign up for this RANDOM ACT of KINDNESS DELIVERY PROGRAM  throughout the hot remaining days of summer and early fall.  Featherstone 2 wheels green delivery will put your name in for the free draw.  The prize is a beautiful basket of goodies from 10 market vendors that attend Wychwood market…..I will deliver the Farmer’s market gift basket anywhere you want in Toronto!

What do you think? I look forward to delivering your beautiful flowers to your friends this summer!

STARTS SATURDAY August 6th at Wychwood Farmer’s market at 601 christie st.

Wychwood Farmer’s Market

It is that time of year for fresh fruit from the Niagara region to arrive at the farmer’s markets, the newest arrival I believe is the sweet cherry.   I recall from my fruit picking days the cherry is both easy and hard to pick….they come off the tree ok but those bushels don’t fill up so fast, I personally  preferred pear season!

I set up shop on Saturday at Wychwood Barns at 601 Christie St.  to see if anyone needed help with sameday delivery.  I spoke to a lot of people and if my schedule allows and I can come back Featherstone 2 wheels green delivery will have a sweet promo for the first delivery to sign up for a take home delivery…I will keep you posted…..

As a micro-business I realize it is very motivating and important to meet with the public from time to time, it is good to put a face to name or group in this case.  I find the farmer’s market crowd is very receptive to bikes and the idea of bike delivery even if it is a totally new concept to them, they are willing to listen and give you some input.

So YES I can deliver from a market….will keep you posted on my summer schedule in the next week or so…

here are some pics from a fantastic day!

Soup Delivered by bike! New Customer for June…

Lisa Kates makes a new batch of soup each week, and has deliveries scheduled on Wednesdays, at least for the bike delivery.  Last week she made Asparagus and Leek soup.  How can you get some?  Contact Info, Lisa Kates: twitter: @foodgypsy.com or phone at 647-895-5460.  They look really great and this week I think she has a summer soup!  I have done a few runs for her with my bike and trailer to downtown and in the east end, if you need a healthy light meal this may be perfect way to kick off the summer solstice.
